CHRISTIE FALLS
Christie Falls is one of our all-time favourite hikes in the Okanagan. After a quick drive, less than an hour from downtown Kelowna, you can find yourself at the trailhead.
This is a mostly inverted hike, meaning that the route there is primarily downhill. You'll be walking through some incredible landscapes left from the 2009 Terrace Mountain forest fire. The area is still in recovery but we see more of the natural wildlife returning each year.
The hike features a steep rope-assisted descent near the waterfall, a stunning cliff face, small cave, and even a rope swing into the waterfall. All this comes together to create one of the coolest places to explore in the Okanagan!
MCDOUGAL RIM
McDougal Rim is a fantastic hike for everybody. It's car accessible, easy and has an amazing payoff. To top it off, it's just a 20-minute drive from downtown Kelowna.
Start the hike with an intense incline for 5-10 minutes depending on your pace. After that, it's all gradual incline and beautiful views.
Bring a friend new to hiking, your dog, heck bring your mom! Everybody will have an amazing time at the cliff-side view of the Okanagan Lake. Don't forget to get an amazing shot for Instagram!
SUGARLOAF MOUNTAIN
Sugarloaf Mountain is a great start to spring hiking, as its low elevation allows for early season access, letting you warm up your legs for larger hikes later on in the season.
Just short of an hour outside downtown Kelowna this hike offers a breath of fresh air from city life that can be found snow-free as early as mid-April.
Perfect for people of all experience levels, follow the mid-grade ascent up the mountain and take in the views off the rocky ledges on the other side.
