Covid-19 Pandemic

Moving Forward

With summer around the corner, it's tempting to break hibernation to trek up a mountain. It seems COVID-19 has left us all with more spare time than we're used to. Before you go charging into the wilderness, we find it essential to remind you of the current CDC/WHO guidelines for social distancing.

Here at Bearlives, we believe safety is always a top priority. On April 8th, 2020, all BC Parks and protected areas were closed, along with all National Parks. This is an effort to limit unnecessary travel, and social crowding to slow the spread of COVID-19. For your safety and the safety of your family and friends, we urge you to respect park closures and follow the guidelines. Closures will be re-evaluated on May 31st according to changing conditions.

"This temporary measure means public, and vehicle access is prohibited until further notice. All trails, roads, day-use areas, beaches, lakes, boat launches, and backcountry areas are closed to the public. Park closures will be enforced through regular monitoring and patrols, and anyone found in a closed park will be evicted and could face a $115 fine."

-(BC Parks)

The following are BC Search and Rescue Association recommendations for "flattening the curve":

-Don't go into the backcountry alone. If you have to bring someone to stay safe, keep groups small or make it a member of your household.

-Better yet. STAY HOME. It is a short term sacrifice we must all make to get back on to the trails sooner.
